Helping Others

Creating real change in the world is hard, perhaps impossible for most of us. Even small changes take time and require a deep commitment.

But small changes on an individual level can be very powerful, and we believe that we all have an obligation to try to make a difference - especially in the lives of children.

The act of reaching out to someone, one to one, is very powerful. For us at Gilden Tree, being committed to a small group over many years has transformed both their lives and our own.

We weren't trying to do something big in the beginning. We just wanted to make a difference where we could. So never limit yourself by thinking you must do something big.

Start simply. Start now. Just help someone and see how it changes you in ways you never expected.

Supporting Education in Pakistan

We’re proud of the fact that starting in 1993, we've helped educate women and children in Pakistan, through educating the women who make our terra-cotta Foot Scrubbers and their children.

Our efforts were featured in TIME Magazine. To read the article, please click here.

We now promote and help support The Citizen's Foundation, a local group in Pakistan that builds schools, trains teachers, and helps educate children in poor urban and rural areas.

PBS Newshour did a great story about The Citizen's Foundation. Click here to watch. The Citizens Foundation is offering a real chance to thousands of kids in a country where opportunities are hard to come by.  Over 50% of the children educated are girls. All of the teachers are women.

Helping Girls in the United States

Co-Founder Ann Thariani is a second generation member of the National T.T.T. Societyfounded in 1911 by a small group of young women.

Today, small chapters of volunteers all over the country raise funds to help pay for a week of camp for girls who might otherwise never have a chance to go, at no expense to their families.

They believe that the camping experience - making new friends, learning self-reliance, and most of all, seeing the greater world as an exciting, interesting place - can transform a girl’s life.

We’ve created a special Help a Girl Moisturizing Set gift. 10% of the sales of this item go to the Camp Fund at T.T.T. It's something any mother, sister or friend would love, and each comes with a small card letting them know that their gift has helped expand the world of a little girl by sending her to camp.
