ASK ANN: Why are our Waffle Weave Kimono Robes so Big?
When we first started making our Waffle Weave kimono robes in the mid-1990s, they were 100% Cotton, and would shrink 15-18% to form the little honeycombs we all know and love.
So, like our towels, we made the robes oversized to allow for that shrinkage.
But for the spas who buy most of our robes and launder them frequently, that shrinkage was a real problem. So, we started using a blend of 65% Polyester and 35% Natural Cotton that was much more stable.
The only thing we didn't count on was that our robes were sized to allow for shrinkage. But Spas loved the new sizes - since S/M and Larges now fit most of their guests. So we took our oversized robes, and made lemonade, so to speak.
Those robes are so soft and comfortable and they last forever, but before you order one for yourself, be sure to check the sizes!
Or just order a shawl-collar waffle weave robe, made out of the same soft, thick waffle weave but sized more traditionally.
