INCI to English, please...

Why do some of your ingredients sound so “funny” and what is INCI?

“INCI” stands for International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients.

Any product which is sold in the European Union must use INCI in describing ingredients. That way no matter what language the rest of the label is in, the ingredients can be understood.

Gilden Tree products have sold in the UK for years, and we’ve finally begun changing labels to be EU compliant. As time goes on, all our labels will change.

To help make it easier to understand, we’ve created a list of ingredients in INCI with the English translation. If an ingredient isn’t listed, it just means it stays the same.
